Agneepath is a 2012 Indian action drama film produced by Heeru Yash Johar and Karan Johar under the banner of Dharma Prachar. It is a reboot of the 1990 film of the same name and directed by Karan Malhotra, a former assistant to Johar. The screenplay is written by Malhotra as well as Ila Dutt Bedi. Through the film Johar, his father pays tribute to original producer Yash Johar. The music of the film is arranged by Ajay-Atul to the tune of the song composed by Amitabh Bhattacharya. Although promoted as a remake, the film only borrows the original plot from the original, completely separating the characters and events. The title of the film is taken from a poem by the same name by Harivansh Rai Bachchan, which makes a thematic link literally and figuratively through the film.
